"Poverty is not an accident.
Like slavery and Apartheid, it is man-made

and can only be removed by the actions of human beings."

Today as I was walking down the fantastically beautiful and colonial streets of Popayán, Colombia I passed by an old legless lady in a half broken wheelchair struggling to climb a horribly steep uphill.

Her tired husband was a few meters away pushing their son in another decline wheelchair, watching her desperate attempts to move forward without being able to help her...

For a short second we kept looking at each other and I could not stop myself from asking, with a timid smile on my face, if she needed help. She looked at me - ashamed but utterly happy - and said "yes please, I would be forever thankful".

Even though I almost felt my heart in my throat beating like the wildest beast and I almost could not breathe at all when we finally reached the top of the lethal uphill I felt extremely, but extremely, content and lucky.

When I slowly let go of the wheelchair this good-hearted, beautiful lady thanked me like I had saved her life. The words were not the most touching part of our small conversation, but the look of pure and sincere thankfulness she gave me. I saved that unique look on her old, wrinkled but peaceful face filled with love and thankfulness and kept it in my heart to forever stay.

Nationality, color of the skin, the eyes and the hair, language, culture and religion are what makes us different from each other. These things are what makes us interesting and unique but at the same time they separate us horribly much.

Therefore, we need to remember that we all belong to the same human race. We are all living on this amazing planet called Earth, together.

I strongly think that we were put on this planet to be able to grow together, to learn from each other and to teach each other different things from all the ways of living that exist. You need to start appreciating the diversity instead of judging people who do not have the same habits or appearance as you do.

When we will start doing that (because we soon will) we will finally begin a very important journey to reach a collective goal - a pattern of compassion for all living things. And brothers and sisters, it is surely first then that man will be able to live in complete peace.

Through showing some small gestures of kindness we automatically feel closer to each other, we sort of erase these unnecessary barriers of doubt, prejudices and negative thoughts that we unfortunately are feeding daily.

So please show some kindness people. It does not cost a damn thing and changes so incredibly much in this miserable, unjust world. Besides, it makes your soul shine like a beautiful star in a night sky.

I am forever saving this "wheelchair-moment" in my heart, feeling thankful for having been able to help that old and lovely lady. She surely will remember what I did as well. "You are an angel" was the last thing she said before she turned over and kept pushing herself forward in that half broken wheelchair.

We all are angels. We just need to discover that. We all have hearts. We just need to start awakening that beautiful part of ourselves and start feeling the universal connection that is inside of every single one of us. If we succeed reaching this state of understanding and acceptance we will live in harmony and peace with all living things in a world filled with love and unity.

Thanks to this legless, wonderful lady and the small gesture of sincere kindness I felt the need to show her I declared what I had always known: we are all one, deep within.

Please remember that.

We can't go on like this.

We desperately need to restructure our miserable, unjust world.
Us - the people.

We're one, we must realize and accept that concealed truth now.

Presentation

This blog is a sincere intent to spread some love in this miserable, yet so beautiful, world we're living in.
